18 October 2018

A member of the talented group, The Marches Scribes, Caroline has studied calligraphy for over 20 years, and been teaching for 8. This Stage II class will introduce students to the construction of the Foundational alphabet using an edged pen.  Following warm-up exercises of patterns, we will look at the strokes that make up letters and practise them in family groups.  Letter heights, pen angles and spacing will also be covered.

After a break for a two-course lunch, the process of constructing an alphabet, using all the strokes learnt, will be introduced just in time for all those festive cards and invitations to write. All levels welcome.

Fine China Painting Class with Emily Jones

15 November 2018

A very talented artist with an unique style, Emily Jones has been painting on fine china for over
20 years. Her studio, just outside Leominster, is an Aladdin’s cave of beautiful mugs, plates, jugs,
lamps and small objets d’art which she hand paints with her original designs and then embellishes with silk matt gold or lustres.

Considered a fine art form, there has been a strong revival in china painting in recent times. For this workshop, Emily will provide a choice of fine china mugs, plates and bowls to paint on. Larger items may incur an extra charge. At the end of the day, Emily will take everyone’s work back to fire in her studio kiln. The finished pieces may be picked up from her studio or Castle House, whichsoever
is most convenient.

Ticket: £55 to include class, two-course lunch and coffee
